Just shy of the one year anniversary of HOPE’s inaugural Crypto Summit and on the eve of the organization’s 31st birthday, Chairman John Hope Bryant, the Founder and CEO of Operation HOPE and Dr. George French, Jr., president of Clark Atlanta University, hosted tech billionaire, CEO of OpenAI, and founder of ChatGPT, Sam Altman for the first in a series of global listening sessions called “The Future of Artificial Intelligence”. These talks are designed to introduce different communities to the new technology Altman pioneered that will likely shift the global socioeconomic landscape. Keeping with HOPE’s belief in extending the table of opportunity and inviting others into the conversation, Chairman Bryant opened the floor to community members to ask questions to Altman directly, raise thoughts for consideration, and express excitement for the possible future ahead. In turn, he responded honestly, thoughtfully, and candidly with an open heart and mind. Notable guests included members of the Atlanta City Council, Congressman Kwanza Hall, Ambassador Andrew Young, Atlanta Public Schools superintendent Lisa Herring, newly inaugurated president of Spelman College, Helene Gayle, members of the King and Ferrisfamilies, Dr. Michael Lomax, president of the United Negro College Fund (UNCF), CNN Chief Medical Correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta, City of Atlanta Senior Tech Advisor Donald Beamer, and a host of other notable community leaders from metro Atlanta.
