I am proud and pleased to travel — over my weekend — to Chicago, IL to join other thought leaders and builders, to speak before Chicago City Treasurer Melissa Conyears-Ervin’s Financial Empowerment Summit, October 1, 2022, from 10am-3pm.

This topic, for those who follow me, know that I have always thought this issue important — but it is now vital.

The 1st Reconstruction (the 19th century) was about freedom. The 2nd Reconstruction (the 20th century) was about access. And the 3rd Reconstruction — where we are now as a nation in the 21st century — is about opportunity. About ownership. And that starts with owning your own aspirations — and your own direction in life. And in this environment, financial literacy is a key civil rights issue for our times.

I come here with more than a speech and ideas, but with tools and shovels and program resources for people to use in their lives.

I bring the 1MBB initiative, with a commitment with the US SBA, Shopify and other partners to create one million new black businesses by 2030, and the Financial Literacy for All initiative, with a mission of embedding financial literacy into the very fiber of business, government and community. I also make available 200 of my HOPE Inside offices in 46 states, and our HOPE In Hand App, available for download on Apple and Android phones.

Other confirmed speakers include Daymond John, Bill Rancic, MC Lyte, Alison Victoria and Dr. Lynn Richardson.

Support Chicago City Treasurer Melissa Conyears-Evans. She’s on to something Important.

Let’s go. Let’s build.
