Today I appeared on CNBC’s Squawk Box with Kevin O’Leary and we discussed a very hot topic that likely affects you or someone you know directly. President Biden has proposed that the federal government forgive up to $10K of federally backed student loan debt for eligible citizens. In my discussion today I likened this potential program to the G.I. Bill which helped create a foundation for a better life and future for our nation’s veterans and continues to do so to this day. This comparison drew a lot of ire and criticism from viewers who felt that I somehow cheapened the sacrifice of our nation’s brave men and women who have fought to preserve our freedoms and way of life. This couldn’t be any further from the truth.

What many people fail to realize are two things: 1) We are again at war. The opposing force? China. The soldiers? The American worker. 2) Those American workers who are on the frontlines every day fighting to secure a future for their family and our nation need a hand up, not a handout, to catch their breath and capitalize on the promise of our country to facilitate the pursuit of happiness for all citizens.

It’s s time for us to stop mincing words and playing with semantics and focus on the real issue at hand. Student loan debt is crippling our citizens and we should do something about it.
