In 2008, the bubble burst for many Americans. In 2009, many waited in lines to fill out unemployment forms for the first time in their lives, while others watched the clock tick as their homes slowly slipped away from them. There were those who took advantage of the uninformed, some cast blame and criticized their government while others simply took a shot of their favorite bourbon while toasting another great day in banking and on Wall Street. There were those on both sides of the isle blaming each other for the financial crisis and then there was John Hope Bryant. A savant in many ways and an agent provocateur of truth, quietly went on about his daily routine of finding solutions to solve the depressed conditions of the poor, provide pathways and enlightenment to uplift the middle class, while creating an equal opportunity to participate in financial dignity for all. It is after all what he eats, sleeps and breathes.
He clearly understands that this is not about being democrat or republican, or even about being black or white. It’s about economics and providing education, information and an opportunity for people to improve their lives. It’s about creating an environment where everyone has dignity and can live their life’s purpose. He also knows it’s about sacrifice because he’s had to. He understands that there can be no progress without it. As John Hope Bryant looks to the future, what he sees is an energized work force, a robust economy and a legion of entrepreneurs leading the way in the 21st century.
