The first Ugandan HOPE Corps Volunteer

January, 2011

While speaking late last year before the Ugandan Financial Literacy Week, I was approached by an enthusiastic professional woman from Uganda bearing a document signed by one of my HOPE Leaders (staff members) more than 6,000 miles away.

It appears that this woman reached out to my team a couple years ago and made her intention to "volunteer" so distinctly and passionately, that my team eventually signed her up to become a HOPE Corps volunteer, even though we had no office in Uganda, and no near-term plans at that time to open one.  She heard I was coming to Uganda and, of course, found me.  With ambition like this, who can tell me that Africa will not "rise" as a continent in the 21st century.  So inspiring.

Let's go.

Onward with HOPE
