Dear friends of HOPE:

Thank you for joining us in making the first ever HOPE Financial Literacy Forum in the city of Oakland at the Marriott Hotel such a resounding success. The insights, passion and active engagement of the more than 500 delegates and 16 speakers that participated made it a historic event.

The theme of the HOPE Financial Forum, “Rebirth of America, Post Economic Crisis” was certainly deemed important by the substantive distinguished speaker participation of U.S. Congresswoman Barbara Lee, King Center CEO Martin L. King III, Masters of Ceremonies Kelvin Boston, Executive Producer Moneywise, Jim Clifton, CEO Gallup, Inc., Michael Shepherd, Chairman and CEO, Bank of the West, Tim Wennes, Vice Chairman & Chief Retail Banking Officer, Union Bank, Karen Collins, President and CEO Corelogic, Robert W. Mooney, Deputy Director, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, Regina Davis, CEO SF Housing Development Corporation, Tony Smith, PHD., Oakland Superintendent of Schools, Paul Wible, SEVP, National Finance Group Head, Bank of the West, Julius Robinson, EVP & Group Head of Corporate Social Responsibility, Union Bank, Lola Robinson, Assistant District Director, Small Business Administration, San Francisco, Carole Watson, Chief Community Investment Officer, United Way, Bay Area, and Orson Aguilar, Executive Director, Greenlining Institute.

Against the backdrop of the global  economic crisis Operation HOPE believes that financial literacy is a new civil rights issue, and the first national and global silver right, and now is the opportune time for us to secure this right for this and future generations. Financial literacy, or what we here at Operation HOPE call “the language of money,” is the fuel that will drive sustainable and healthy consumer confidence, and a strong economic base of national and global stakeholders going forward.  On October 19, 2010, we made the business case for financial literacy both here in the city of Oakland and around America.

We encourage you to visit the HOPE Oakland Financial Literacy website, http://www.operationhope.org/oakland, to view event photos and watch video footage.  We will continue to add new information to the site in the days and weeks ahead.  It is our goal to host similar regional HOPE Financial Literacy forums and town hall events throughout the United States over the next 5 years and it is our hope that they will become an interactive portal and a gateway to global strategies around the advancement of financial literacy as we launch a new movement around the world; a global silver rights movement.

A special thank you to Lance Triggs, EVP at Operation HOPE and chief of the HOPE Center and HOPE Forum portfolios, and our first-class event planner The Baker Group and its CEO, Tammy Baker.

Thank you, once again, for your participation.

 With HOPE,
