Isn't this cool? It is former President Bill Clinton in a Banking on Our Future classroom at the initial launch of Banking on Our Future, Harlem, originally in partnership with Citi, Deutsche Bank (originally Bankers Trust), Operation HOPE and the Clinton Foundation, where we teach a course in dignity, financial literacy and in some schools, course in entrepreneurship (Operation HOPE, South Africa) and a bank account for children.
Today I am pleased to report that Operation HOPE has educated more than 440,000 young people, ages 8-18, through Banking on Our Future, and we have more than 4,000 active HOPE Corps members today and more than 9,000 HOPE Corps volunteers since the founding of Operation HOPE in 1992.
Operation HOPE's Banking on Our Future is an award winning financial literacy program which has been awarded the prestigious Andrew Sherman Award for Excellence in Financial Education by the U.S. Department of the Treasury. Banking on Our Future, Banking on Our Future, College Edition (which includes our innovative partnership with the White House Initiative on HBCUs), www.bankinonourfuture.org, HOPE Global Initiatives, and 5MK (5 MILLION KIDS) and other special initiatives and programs are all part of the portfolio of one Mary Hagerty, my global chief of financial literacy here at Operation HOPE. Banking on Our Future is one of the important portfolios within the larger Operation HOPE family.
To get involved and to help make a difference with our children, and to create a new generation of young people who are financially literate and empowered (so that this global economic crisis never happens again), go to Operation HOPEand become a HOPE Corps member, become a member, a partner, get services to your school or community, or make a 5MK Pledge.
Operation HOPE is today the largest urban delivery system for financial literacy empowerment in the country, serving 69 urban communities on the ground nationwide and 6 provinces in South Africa. Our affiliated Global Dignity initiative recently completed a Global Dignity Day, in association with our friends at the Forum of Young Global Leaders, in 32 countries all on one day, impacting the lives of thousands of young future leaders around the world. Major portfolios for Operation HOPE include HOPE Banking Center Network, Banking on Our Future, HOPE Coalition America, HOPE Corps, HOPE Advisors, HOPE Global Initiatives, HOPE Summits, and HOPE "big ideas" include 5MK, and our 5-year partnerships for change with the White House Initiative on HBCUs, Bishop Charles E. Blake and the Church of God in Christ (COGIC) and the FINANCIAL SERVICES ROUNDTABLE.
One person can make a difference. Be that one person.
Onward with HOPE
John Hope Bryant
