JHB in DC - history 005 Last week I was honored to stand with my friends and Council Chairman Charles Schwab, founder and chairman of Charles Schwab Corporation, and Congresswoman Sheila Jackson-Lee (D-TX), at the conclusion of the 7th public meeting of the bi-partisan U.S. President's Advisory Council on Financial Literacy.

The meeting was held at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, and we were honored to present our Council approved annual report to the President, to Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson, the Obama Administration Presidential Transition Team, and later in the day, to President Bush in the Oval Office.

The Council was also honored to have Congresswoman Sheila Jackson-Lee speak before the full Council and guests, on the importance of our work, the non-partisan nature of our agenda, and the vital importance of action being taken (on the report recommendations) in the new Congressional session.  We thank Congresswoman Lee, Congresswoman Diane E. Watson, both friends and legislators with vision and an understanding of the economy, as well as a passion for the under-served, for their leadership in and around financial literacy for America's future. More to come.
