Ygl_summit_zermatt_with_president_and_prHere I am fully engaged in a passionate discussion around the issue of poverty and strategies to eradicate poverty by the year 2020, with President of Guyana, and YGL member, the Honorable Bharrat Jagdeo, during a brainstorming session in Zermatt, Switzerland at the Inaugural Summit of the Forum of Young Global Leaders. YGL is an affiliate of the World Economic Forum.

President Jagdeo was elected President of Guyana in March, 2001. Previously he served as a director on a number of boards, including the National Bank of Industry and Commerce and the Caribbean Development Bank. He also served as Guyana’s Governor to the IMF, the World Bank, the CDB and the Inter-American Development Bank, and was the National Authorizing Officer to the European Union. In May, 1995, he was named Senior Minister of Finance, the youngest person in Guyana’s short history to have been appointed to the post. One smart man, and passionate about his country and solving poverty in the world….

Onward, with HOPE
