Wouldn’t it be nice to wake up to a headline like that? Imagine living in a world where people valued human decency, acquisition of knowledge without personal bias or private agendas, and lived by a common moral standard. Think about how your life and the standard of living in your neighborhood would change if ignorance was frowned upon by men, women, and children of all ages and smart became sexy again. I guarantee you that regardless of your race, ethnicity, or socioeconomic background everything around you would begin to change and improve for the better.
The beautiful thing about it is that this doesn’t have to be an imaginary thing or a paradise island that we can only dream of. We can begin affecting change in our neighborhoods, our families, and our personal lives by taking a stand and changing the culture. My good friend Quincy Jones said that it takes twenty years to change a culture. The longer that we delay the change the longer we prolong the clock beginning. So, let’s all agree to start changing the culture TODAY.
It’s imperative that we begin to elevate our mindset and live by a higher standard and pursue a standard of excellence. When I say a standard I’m not talking about a financial standard of living. I’m talking about a mindset. We’ve made dumb sexy for far too long. Our society and culture have been poor for too long, and by poor I mean a disabling frame of mind. We all might be a little “broke” frm time to time, but we must choose to never be poor again.
