“If we want to save America, we must save its cities, and the only way to save America’s cities is with a vibrant and believable pathway to the middle-class American dream. Middle-class people don’t want war or strife, they want to go shopping! Actually, they just want economic opportunity.”

John Hope Bryant, How the Poor Can Save Capitalism: Rebuilding the Path to the Middle Class

Detroit, Ferguson, Baltimore, Chicago—the stories of social unrest and upheaval coming out of these cities and many more across the nation cause great concern.

Here at HOPE, we’re focusing on opportunity as a solution by bringing economic empowerment to underserved communities through America Uplift 2020.

America Uplift 2020 is a national campaign designed to execute the mission of Project 5117—our multi-year four-pronged approach to combating economic inequality that aims to improve financial literacy, increase business role models and business internships for youth, empower women and girls, and stabilize the American dream by boosting credit scores.

Uplift 2020 campaigns are being launched in major cities across the country. We need volunteers and partners like you to power this movement. Consider committing to one or more of the following in your community:

  • Teach financial literacy to youth in a classroom
  • Mentor a 4th – 12th grade student
  • Provide an internship to a student in the 4th – 12th grade.
  • Sponsor a 700 Credit Score Community and help an individual or a family raise their credit score to 700
