John Hope Bryant

Written by Patricia Raskin

John Hope BryantTune in when Patricia interviews John Hope Bryant author of the new book, How the Poor Can Save Capitalism. Bryant has a surprising message for business and political leaders. America's poor have the power to turn our economy around–and he has real-life case examples and success stories to prove it. The poor represent as much as 70 percent of our population, and include everyone from the single mother earning minimum wage to the married accountant earning $50,000. These people may not sound powerful, but they are–once they begin to earn, spend, save, hire others, and pay taxes.  In How the Poor Can Save Capitalism, Bryant presents a bipartisan, concrete plan that gives poor communities access to financial education, entrepreneurial support, bank accounts, and decent credit scores so they can be part of a healthy free enterprise system. John Hope Bryant currently serves on the President Obama's Advisory Council on Financial Capability for Young Americans, and also served under George W. Bush as Chairman of the Subcommittee on the Underserved and Community Empowerment during the George W. Bush presidency. He is also founder, chairman, and CEO of Operation HOPE, a nonprofit banker for the working poor, underserved, and struggling middle class, which provides financial literacy for youth, financial capability for communities, and financial dignity for all.
