JHB Guy Favorite head shot  I just wanted to take a moment to thank Raycom Media of Birmingham, Alabama for their recent commitment to run a series of HOPE Communications produced television spots in support of our HOPE Coalition America (HCA) division, active in response to the Southern storms recovery effort.

HCA is the national partner with DHS/FEMA for emergency financial and disaster preparedness, response and recovery, and we are deeply concerned that individuals, families and small businesses (and particularly most at risk minority small businesses) are not signing up and registering with FEMA and the SBA to receive the services and resources they deserve, in rebuilding their lives. Approximately only 10% of those who might qualify for support, in Alabama alone, have registered to date.  The current cut off deadline for registering in Alabama is July 18th, 2011, unless the Governor extends it.

Raycom is currently running HCA spots from HOPE Global Spokesman and civil rights iconAmbassador Andrew Young, as well as HOPE Advisor Martin Luther King, III, CEO of the King Center in Atlanta, Georgia.  These spots, produced by Emmy award winning director and producer CB Hackworth, encourages those impacted by the Southern storms to register with FEMA and SBA, TODAY, and to get the resources they both need and deserve.  Soon HOPE Partner Premiere Radio Network, which has 5,000 national radio affiliates across the country, will also begin running radio spots to encourage survivors to register, as well as professionals across the country to become Virtual HOPE Corps volunteers to help.  More on the later effort to come.

For any individual or small business impacted by the Southern Storms, please contact FEMA, or HCA and Operation HOPE at 888 388 HOPE, or go online.

Onward with HOPE
