Bravo Mr. President, on this new appointment, the recent Appointment of Bill Daley as your chief of staff (a friend), and the appointment of Gene Sperling (another friend) to key economic and leadership posts within his Administration. We must not make free enterprise and capitalism our enemy. This crisis is not about the failure of free enterprise and capitalism, but the failure of greed.

Let’s create a new paradigm, and finally make free enterprise and capitalism relevant to the poor, and ultimately, work for the poor (and middle class). More than anything today, we need to stabilize the global economy in sustainable ways, and to create a new generation of jobs. Let’s mark this recession, a reset, and create a new vision for American enterprise, and our world. This is what Operation HOPE is all about, and it is what I call silver rights empowerment.

I will be honored to work with him and the Board as a member of the President’s Advisory Council on Financial Capability.

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – President Obama announced Friday that he is forming a new economic advisory council and hailed the business leader he has appointed to head it, General Electric chief executive Jeffrey Immelt, as an innovator who can advance its core missions of promoting U.S. job creation, exports and global competitiveness.

In remarks at a GE plant in this city, the industrial giant’s birthplace, Obama said Immelt “understands what it takes for America to compete in the global economy.”
