Sitting here in Amsterdam in route to Kenya, and then from there to Tanzania, I am reminded of the amazing beauty and diversity of our world. Amsterdam airport is literally teaming with what must be more than 100 different ethnicities; all respecting and co-existing each other. Really something beautiful to see, feel and experience. Sitting here I am reminded of my friend and mentor Quincy Jones’ advise; “John, you have to go to know.” I could not agree more. There is little chance for someone to understand this world without experiencing it first hand. And if you are not relatively comfortable in your own skin, forget about it.

Traveling internationally and amongst diverse cultures, and amongst different cultural and societal rules, demands a knowing, self-secure spirit about yourself. Being in an environment such as this “grows” your own personhood.
