As part of Citibank’s "Our Promise" initiative in Chicago, the bank will make a
charitable donation to Operation HOPE and its “Banking on Our Future”
program to support youth financial literacy

CHICAGO, IL – MAY 27, 2010 – Citibank today continued its ‘“Our Promise”’ initiative to reinforce the bank’s strong and ongoing commitment to its customers and the local communities it serves by hosting over 100 kids to a Cubs game against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Wrigley Field.

As part of the day’s festivities, Citibank is partnering with economic empowerment nonprofit Operation HOPE to welcome the kids from various HOPE partner organizations for a Chicago Cubs baseball experience. Before the game, the kids will receive a class on financial education, highlighted by a visit and motivational talk by Cubs chairman and owner Tom Ricketts. Citibank will also make a $20,000 donation to Operation HOPE’s local Banking on Our Future program to support youth financial literacy.

“This program has provided yet another opportunity for us to fulfill our commitment to support our customers and our local communities,” said Darryl Hendricks, Illinois Division Manager, Citibank. “Our partnership with Operation HOPE allows us to have a real impact, especially for our youth that live here, in helping to develop them into financially responsible adults,” he continued.

"Our Promise" has now launched in all of Citibank’s U.S. markets. At its core, the initiative is meant to thank the bank’s customers for their loyalty and is built on seven ‘promises’ the bank makes to its customers every day, from protecting their identity to helping them define and work towards their financial goals.

“Not only are we looking forward to hosting a group of deserving kids to a Cubs game, we’ve mixed in just the right amount of financial education too,” said Hendricks.

“The Banking on Our Future, Chicago branch opened in 2003. Since then more than 60,000 students in the Chicago area and 450,000 globally have been trained in the basics of dignity, checking, savings and credit. Citibank is a shining example of ‘doing well, by doing good,’” noted Mary L. Hagerty Operation HOPE's first senior vice president and global chief of financial literacy.
