Just finished a segment on the Tom Joyner Morning with Roland Martin this morning, one of the most popular radio programs in the nation.

We focused on my new book LOVE LEADERSHIP: The New Way to Lead in a Fear-Based World, and versus just talking about my 5 Laws of Leadership, described in detail in the book, we dealt with deep, real life issues: the crisis in Chicago with our children in school for instance.

I said that while we do need to be financially literate, and to understand the language of money, a big part of the problem is that this is a crisis of virtues and values. I went on to say that “there is a difference between being broke and being poor.” That being broke was a temporary economic condition, but being poor is a disabling frame of mind and a depressed condition of our spirit, and “we must vow to never, ever be poor again.” I said that “we have made dumb sexy over te past 20 years, and over the next 20 years we need to make smart sexy again. 5MK (www.5mk.org).
