Yd2h95952For years of my life, I never really focused on the 4th of July and its meaning to me personally in my life. Maturity and patience, and hopefully a dose of wisdom along the way, is one of the many benefits of growing up. I now get it more than I ever have, but my guess is that most people are just like I was — focused on the 4th as a legal holiday, time with family, and fireworks. Well, last night and today me and my family were immersed in and transfixed by a great HBO movie entitled JOHN ADAMS, which tells the story of American independence from Britain more beautifully than I have ever witnessed.

Every American, and frankly, every human being on the planet that values freedom and the God given, "inalienable rights" of every human being, as outlined in America’s "Declaration of Independence," needs to watch it this moving and entertaining documentary. I am also currently immersed in the book ALEXANDER HAMILTON by Ron Chernow, the amazing and moving biography of our nation’s first treasury secretary, and the recognized founder of our modern economic system. These two companion pieces, the movie JOHN ADAMS, and the biography ALEXANDER HAMILTON, will make you want to stand up and cheer — "I am proud to be an American, and I am honored to celebrate our liberty on the 4th of July." It will also fill you with honor, irrespective of race or creed, and make you want to "serve."

Onward with HOPE
