The Colorado Black Chamber of Commerce (CBCC) will hold its 18th annual Entrepreneur of the Year Awards and Dinner, at 6 p.m. Sept. 23 at the Marriott Hotel City Center, 1701 California St. in Denver.

The theme will be From Civil Rights to Silver Rights.
John Hope Bryant, founder of the Los Angeles-based Operation HOPE, will be the keynote speaker.

Operation HOPE is America’s first non-profit social investment banking organization and a leading national self-help provider of economic empowerment tools and services for the under-served and the wealth less, Operation HOPE was founded in 1992, after the Los Angeles riots. Bryant has raised more than $50 million in grant funding and more than $240 million in lending commitments for low-wealth homeownership and small business creations.

The Mary Louise Lee Band will be the pre-dinner entertainment, and Danny Shower will provide entertainment at the dinner.
Tickets are $100 per person. Sponsorships are available and dinner volunteers are welcome.

The Chamber’s mission is to provide leadership for the growth and development of African American businesses and to facilitate the economic Empowerment of the African American community.
The Colorado Black Chamber was founded in 1985 and has been a force in Colorado’s business landscape. It has 800 individual members and a corporate membership of 52.
"CBCC is well prepared to provide leadership to metro Denver’s growing black business community. It is projected to grow significantly over the next decade," said the Chamber’s interim president/CEO and former Denver mayor Wellington E. Webb. "However, as businesses continue to deal with today’s sluggish economic climate, CBCC clearly sees the need to increase its current endeavors."
Priorities have been set to help members gain better access to capital, further improve customer service and technical assistance, expands member services, and significantly increase memberships, he added.
