La_and_dc_012Without civil rights, there could be no silver rights.

Thanks to the leadership of several Members of Congress, the Black Leadership Forum, the NAACP and other organizations, Congress passed and the President signed into law today the reauthorization of the Fannie Lou Hamer, Rosa Parks, and Coretta Scott King Voting Rights Act, originally passed in 1965.

The original legislation, passed into law in 1965, was crafted in part by my hero Andrew Young. I was glad I could attend this historic signing ceremony today at the White House, in honor of all of those heroes and sheroes that came before me.

Onward, with HOPE

John Hope Bryant
