Bill Hawkins is a friend, a confidant, a giver, a true professional, and one of the smartest people I know. I first met Bill, now the chief operating officer of Operation HOPE, when he was president of IndyMac Bank, Consumer Banking Group, which he helped to build from nothing to a $15 billion entity. Not bad, and not all either.
Bill opened the door for HOPE at IndyMac and soon joined our Southern California regional board of directors. After he transitioned out of IndyMac Bank the two of us would stay in contact. During each conversation Bill would always ask the same question; "what can I do to help?" Well, that questioned answered itself when one day I called Bill looking for counsel around our increasing need for a top notch chief operating officer. Needless to say, Operation HOPE has never looked back, and everyday he is there Bill adds value to an organization I both love and have given my life to build. Thank you Bill.
Bill is an Independent Trustee of the Nations Funds (an affiliate of Bank of America) and is the Principal of Overton Partners, a private investing and strategic consulting firm.
Additionally, prior to joining IndyMac Bank, Bill was president and chief operating officer of American General Bank in Texas. At American General Bank, he was responsible for overall bank strategy, performance and operations and led the initiative to launch the start-up savings bank.
From 1981 until 1998, Bill was president and chief executive officer of Griffin Financial Services, the financial services subsidiary of H.F. Ahmanson. Under the Griffin Financial umbrella, Bill directed various brokerage, Insurance, Investment Advisory and mutual fund distribution entities.
Bill holds a B.S. and a Masters degree in Business Administration. In addition, he is a Certified Financial Planner, a Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter, and has 25 years experience in the financial services industry. He served as Chairman of the NASD Bank Broker-Dealer Committee and served as Chairman of the NASD District Business Conduct Committee. He is also a Trustee of The Chandler School in Pasadena, California.
Bill resides in Glendale, California along with his wife, Holly and son, Billy.
Honored to be associated Bill. Honored. The best is yet to come. Buckle up (smile).
Onward, with HOPE
