God is good… It is with great personal enthusiam, and personal pride, that I announce that a date has been selected (April 12th, 2005) for what we at Operation HOPE are calling "A Day of HOPE with Andrew Young."
A Day of HOPE with Andrew Young will celebrate the new partnership and active collaboration between Operation HOPE, myself, Andrew "Bo" Young, III, and the legendary Ambassador Andrew Young. On this day, in Atlanta, Georgia, we will announce the commitment of Ambassador Young to become the national spokesman for Operation HOPE, and as well, on the same day, Ambassador Young and I will enter the Jean Childs Young Middle School, named after his late wife, and jointly co-teach a Banking on Our Future financial literacy course before the national media and assembled guests.
Immediately following the teaching session we plan to hold a press conference where we hope to announce a citywide partnership in Atlanta, with Atlanta Public Schools, to educate "every middle school age, low wealth child in Atlanta" in financial literacy over five years. I should also note that it is because of the leadership of both Georgia Insurance, Fire and Safety Commissioner John Oxendine, and California State Insurance Commissioner John Garamendi, that we are even in Atlanta, Georgia, teaching financial literacy. In the early afternoon Ambassador Young and I will co-host a number of local, state and national VIPs in Atlanta, on April 12th, 2005, during Financial Literacy Month, for a special forum entitled "From Civil Rights to Silver Rights, the Dawning of a New Movement in America." We plan to end this exciting Day of HOPE with a closing reception at the Andrew Young School of .Public Policy at Georgia State University. We will also participate in the formal unveiling of the new Andrew Young School of Public Policy building during the week’s activities of April 12th-14th, 2005.
