We will soon release a ‘best of’ summary video of this historic press conference and public announcement of and around this new HOPE Inside location at Atlanta Police Department, but here is the full video in total.

A special thank you to our partners here including Chief George Turner and the Atlanta Police Department, Dave Wilkinson and the Atlanta Police Foundation, Assistant Secretary Jay Williams from the U.S. Economic Development Administration, and Brad Dinsmore, Corporate Executive Vice President for SUNTRUST Banks, who attended the ribbon cutting at Atlanta Police Department Headquarters.  Our internal HOPE on this day was our own Lance Triggs, who runs Operation HOPE Program Operations systemwide.

This would not have been possible without the support of my friend and Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, along with SUNTRUST Banks Chairman & CEO Bill Rogers, for their key support here.  Here are a couple key take away facts:

  • The #1 issue for the Atlanta Police Department, beyond fighting crime, is fighting the financial instability of their own officers.  This new HOPE Inside location will help here, which will in turn ‘help’ communities that officers police and serve.
  • APD officers experienced an outsized number of personal bankruptcies last year — approximately 6% — which is significantly higher than the national average for all American citizens.

Earlier this year, the U.S. Department of the Treasury featured the new HOPE Inside/Atlanta Police Department model as a new private/public ‘best practice’ at a national convening they organized in Washington, DC at the Treasury Department.

Let’s go…
