Dr. Tim George racing

A special thank you to my friend Dr. Tim George of Austin, Texas (one of the leading surgeons in the world mind you) for graciously offering to feature the Operation HOPE, financial literacy empowerment and the Silver Rights movement on the livery of his amazing race car last month at Sebring Raceway in Florida.  Doesn’t it look great!

Below is the commentary from the race.

It was a tough but eventful first race for the number 24 Eurosports IMSA Mazda Prototype Lites entry driven by Dr Tim George.  Mechanical issues plagued practice and qualifying sessions, relegating him to start in at position 19 in a field of 21 for the 30 minute Race 1. After a great start, moving up 4 positions, again mechanical issues led to a spin in turn 16 of the first lap. This led to a 17th finishing position.

The 45 minute Race 2 again saw Dr George starting at position 20 of 21. This time, the mechanical bugs appeared fixed and George gained 10 positions in the first 15 minutes of the race. However, while attempting a pass into turn 7, contact led frontal body damage requiring a pit stop to repair the damage. After losing 3 laps, George was able to make up a lap and finished in the 16th position with the help of two full course yellow flags.

Overall, it was a race week that saw good progress despite the mechanical obstacles. The number 24 of Dr George is looking forward to the next event in June at Watkins Glen, the legendary former Formula 1 track in the Finger Lakes region of New York.

Hanging with his son in the pit area at Sebring Raceway.  What a great experience for a young person like this, to building character, confidence — and of course a wonderful, rich connection with his father.
