Celebrating 20 Years of Liberation – From Genocide to the Silicon Valley of the African Continent

Atlanta, GA – September 15, 2014:  Celebrating 20 years of liberation, Rwandan President, His Excellency Paul Kagame will be the guest of honor at Rwanda Day 2014, scheduled for September 20in Atlanta.  Co-hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Rwanda, the Rwandan Community in the United States and Operation HOPE, Rwandans and friends of Rwanda will convene in Atlanta to reflect on the two-decade journey from genocide to becoming one of the fastest growing economies in Africa. This sixth edition is built on the success of Rwanda Day celebration held in Toronto, Boston, Chicago, London and Paris.

“Twenty years since the liberation of Rwanda from the divisive politics that led to the Genocide against the Tutsi, Rwandans come together to celebrate Rwanda's progress and recommit to working together to build a united and dignified nation for generations,” stated H.E. Ambassador Mukantabana.

Under the theme Agaciro: Our Choice, Rwanda Day will feature appearances by prominent Civil Rights leaders including Ambassador Andrew Young, Dr. Bernice A. King, leading American and Rwandan businesspersons as well as Rwandan artists.
