As my dear friend Lance Triggs celebrates his birthday tomorrow, me and the entire Operation HOPE family would like to take a moment to thank him for 20 years of service to the HOPE mission (March 1st, 2014) and the underserved communities we serve.
Lance Triggs, who is president of the HOPE Inside (adult empowerment) division, is a very dear friend to me personally, as we have known each other since I was 18 years old. That's almost 30 years of friendship between us – and I have literally enjoyed each and every year knowing him.
Lance is one of those rare quiet storms, whose fire runs deep and his intelligence and knowledge unquestionable, but he doesn't need to make a lot of noise about it.
He is a spiritual man who quietly went to divinity school, and who helps countless young people and adults to change their lives, never asking or seeking public credit for himself.
Lance is the HOPE Leader principally responsible for the birth of the HOPE 700 Credit Score Communities Initiative, who is now the central feature of and within the expanding national HOPE Inside network of locations. Here is a link to but one of the countless success stories of and from 700 Credit Score Communities. This is Lance Trigg's legacy. It's active, its real, and it's still growing.
I knew both of Lance's incredible parents. His father was a decorated LAPD (Los Angeles Police Department) officer, and his mother was a dedicated 'domestic engineer,' taking care of Lance, his dad and the household. Both of them — whom Lance absolutelty adhored growing up in Carson, California — would be so very proud of Lance Triggs today. In fact, I know that they are.
You see, in the spiritual tradition of Lance Triggs, and quoting author Deepak Chopra, "we are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings, having a human experience." They are still with him, everyday — and boy do they have good reason to be proud.
I know that I am (proud).
Lance is my friend, my brother, a key advisor and HOPE Leader, a silver rights (empowerment) soldier for a new generation of leaders, and one who will change the world.
