As I spoke at the national gathering of the National Black Caucus of State Legislators, and most recently the Florida Legislative Black Caucus, this week I am pleased to speak during Black History Month before the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus on the occassion of their annual Heritage Dinner.

Their chosen topic will be from Board of Education Vs. Brown, to the Board Room. My chosen topic, rooted within this larger framework of theirs, will be from Civil Rights Streets, to Silver Rights Suites. Teaching and Empowering a New Generation to Fish. As Dr. King asked in his last book, WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE? Chaos or Community.

We need to begin answering that question, on behalf of a future generation.

Operation HOPE maintains a HOPE Inside at Ebenezer, the historic church of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and his father, Martin Luther King, Sr., more commonly referred to as Daddy King.  Daddy King was a man of the cloth, but also a businessman.  Daddy King served on the board of a bank for nearly 40 years, and almost no one seems to know it.  Because of Daddy King, the world benefited from the life and legacy of Dr. King.  The future is not about one or the other, but the powerful story and influence of both.

 Let's go…
