I was honored to join civil rights icon Ambassador Andrew Young and Reverend Dr. Bernice A. King for the official U.S. Home Going Ceremony in honor of one Nelson Mandela.

Interestingly enough, while Mandela was the first post Apartheid-era president of South Africa, normally accorded the title President by world leaders, Mandela proved such a towering figure that even this title was not enough. He was simply called, by those who knew him, Madiba.

I am so pleased to be here, paying personal respect to this as well as the extended Operation HOPE family. We are similarly honored to be in partnership with the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund, on the ground in South Africa. And the work to empower people, post Apartheid, continues.
