Smith to help steer HOPE initiatives to boost financial empowerment

ATLANTA – September 12, 2013 – Operation HOPE (HOPE) announced today the appointment of Equifax Chairman and CEO Richard F. “Rick” Smith to its National Board of Directors. Smith’s extensive executive experience and commitment to HOPE’s Silver Rights Mission will help affirm the organization’s position as the global leader for financial dignity.

“We are pleased to welcome Mr. Smith as a member of the Operation HOPE National Board of Directors.  His participation and leadership will further HOPE’s work to empower youth and adults in underserved communities,” said HOPE President and Chief Operating Officer Bill Walbrecher. "We are confident that HOPE’s ‘silver rights’ mission — to make free enterprise work for everyone, will be lifted to new heights as a result of Mr. Smith’s contributions and guidance.”

Smith joined Equifax in September 2005 after more than two decades with General Electric Co. With his direction, the company has pursued a successful strategy focused on driving growth through new product innovation, emerging market opportunities (domestic and overseas), differentiated data and deepening customer relationships.

Prior to joining Equifax, Smith held several executive positions with GE, where he was appointed a Corporate Officer in 1999. In his last position with GE, Smith was COO of GE Insurance Solutions, where he led all GE Insurance operating business units.
