HOPE Partners MetaPay Systems and Wolters Kluwer help make the Gallup HOPE Index a tool for education and business leaders

Los Angeles – August 15, 2013 – Financial dignity nonprofit Operation HOPE (HOPE) today commended partners MetaPay Systems, a leading provider of prepaid, credit, debit and emerging payments solutions, and Wolters Kluwer, a market-leading global information services company, for helping to bolster the profile of the 2012 Gallup HOPE Index (GHI) by playing a key role in the printing and mailing of the 14-page report. The GHI is an unprecedented survey that shows the role of America’s youth in the country’s future GDP and job growth.

Supported by MetaPay Systems and Wolters Kluwer, HOPE sent a printed edition of the GHI findings to approximately 20,000 influential people and organizations its partners, state senators, school superintendents and principals, trade organizations, governors, Fortune 500 companies, university heads, foundations and media contacts.

It is a powerful indicator that can also help guide leaders, educators, and individuals on what they need to focus on to ensure that American youth prosper in the future. Ultimately, program goals include gathering the opinions of 5 million youth nationwide, empowering 500,000 students through their participation in HOPE Business In A Box, and launching 25,000 micro-enterprises by 2020.

Initiated in 2011, the GHI is part of Gallup's 100-year commitment with Operation HOPE to assess the attitudes and behaviors often ascribed to entrepreneurs and to provide government and business leaders with data about student sentiment nationwide.

The annual study provides a window into the thoughts and opinions of American fifth through 12th graders about economic energy to invent and start a business, financial literacy, hope about the future, engagement in and enthusiasm for school, and overall human wellness.

Since its inception in 1992, HOPE has focused on financial dignity, empowering more than 2 million individuals in a "silver rights" mission to make free enterprise work for the underserved. Through its award-winning youth financial literacy program, Banking on Our Future, HOPE has educated more than 720,000 youth nationwide. Business-In-A-Box is among several programs that target low-income and at-risk communities with "financial dignity" training.
