As the late author Dr. Scott Peck would say, "love is work, non-love is laziness, and anti-love is evil."

If you love anything, you are going to have to work at it, constantly, and all the time. It will drive you mad at times, and it will frustrate you, but in time this love will always pay dividends.  Just think about your children at 35, versus your children at say 15.  But the real tragedy of life is not human evil, or anti-love, its laziness.

Intellectual laziness, mental and emotional laziness, aspirational laziness, financial laziness, physical laziness; when we all simply fail to do the work that (sustained) success requires."
