I was pleased to meet for more than an hour last week with Alabama Governor Robert Bentley, briefing the Governor and his senior team around our coming work in the state, and our first office to be opened in Birmingham, Alabama.

I met with Governor Bentley in his offices in Montgomery, Alabama, and thereafter went to meet with civil rights icon Ms. Doris Crenshaw, who today is keeping the historic headquarters site and legacy of the Montogmery Bus Boycott alive.  I also made sure to touch basis with Mayor William Bell, mayor of Birmingham, Alabama, while in the state, and even spoke with my friend and HOPE board member Dr. Bernice A. King, while touring a memorial in honor of her father, Dr. Martin L. King, Jr.

A special thank you to Art Faulkner, director of the Alabama Office of Emergency Management, who facilitated the meeting with the Governor, along with my senior team that joined me; Fred D. Smith, president of HOPE Coalition America and James Bailey, CEO of Operation HOPE, Atlanta.

Stay tuned on our growing efforts in the state of Alabama.
