Los Angeles – May 23, 2012 – On May 13, at Augustus Hawkins High School, empowerment nonprofit Operation HOPE announced the local winners of the HOPE Business In A Box (HBIAB) initiative, a pilot program being implemented in schools in the Bay Area, Los Angeles, Denver and Atlanta aimed to inspire entrepreneurship.

Fifty students initially participated, either as sole entrepreneurs or in small groups, and pitched their business ideas in front of a live audience that included role models and community leaders. From the original 35 business ideas, the businesses were pared down to 12 students representing 7 business ideas. The top contenders were selected by a panel of 8 judges.
