John Osborn (far left), President and CEO of BBDO New York City, is a true Love Leader, as articulated and defined in my bestselling business book LOVE LEADERSHIP: The New Way to Lead in a Fear-Based World (Jossey-Bass).

When Operation HOPE and Global Dignity needed an advertising agency of record, John Osborn stood up, stepped forward and delivered. Never asking anything for himself, nor even any credit for his first-rate firm. They just did it because it was the right thing to do.

When Global Dignity needed a first-class advertising campaign for one of our first GLOBAL DIGNITY DAY events, John and his firm once again stepped forward — treating us as if we were not only a paying customer, but like we were one of his best.

When Global Dignity called on leadership from within the Young Global Leader community, once again John was one of the first to stand up, and even showed up for a strategic planning meeting in Oslo, Norway. Oslo…Norway!

Recently, when we decided to gather high-level leaders from throughout New York City for a private discussion around ‘possibilities,’ John Osborn offered to host it. And what an impressive group of leaders did John Osborn deliver on our behalf. And then, less than 24 hours later there he was again — hanging with me and Crown Prince Haakon in an inner-city classroom in Harlem, New York; John Osborn and his entire BBDO team.

If the world had more leaders like John Osborn, the world’s problems would simply be solved. And so, I take this moment to salute a real leader in the modern, I-would-love-to-help-but-I-am-too-busy-and-important, age we live in today. A leader, named John Osborn. Thank you friend, just for being you. You are a role model in a modern age.
