John Hope Bryant, founder, chairman and CEO of Operation HOPE, and chairman of the Subcommittee for the Underserved and Community Empowerment of the U.S. President's Advisory Council on Financial Capability (PACFC), addresses the District of Columbia Financial Literacy Council's third meeting on Thursday, July 26, 2012, in Washington, D.C.

Bryant applauded the work of the DC Local Council and shared with them the progress being made by the federal Council, chaired by businessman John Rogers, and updated the group on the now more than 110 U.S. cities that have commitments to start a local financial literacy council.  The District Of Columbia Financial Literacy Council Chairperson Ms. Tamar Haye-Daufour acknowledged the PACFC and the on-the-ground work of Operation HOPE, and made a special request for Mr. Bryant to speak.

The District of Columbia Local Council is but one example of the very real progress being made by the Obama Administration and President Obama in making financial literacy and financial capability very real in our nation, and embedded values in the American free enterprise system.

A special thank you to the National Conference of Black Mayors, and its director Vanessa Williams, in their leadership around encouraging Local Financial Literacy Councils.

Onward and with HOPE,
