A friend in the movement for the advancement of our people, and people of color in particular, Mr. Marc Morial, was appointed last week by President Barack Obama to a prestigious post as a Member of the U.S. President's Advisory Council on Financial Capability.  I am particularly pleased with this appointment, as it helps advance a critical need for the Council to speak and relate to communities both served and underserved across America.  Furthermore, NUL is a first class, even best-in-class organization, with a track record for empowering the underserved from even before the civil rights movement, to the present day.

On a personal level, I have known Marc for some years now, and I am proud to note that several local offices of the Urban League and Operation HOPE have found ways to partner on-the-ground, in communities across this country.

Marc will add a lot to the Council, and both proud and pleased to welcome his new leadership.  Check out Marc Morial's full credentials here.

Mayor Marc Morial was the 59th mayor of New Orleans, following a long history of public service in his family.
