SACRAMENTO – The California Black Chamber of Commerce Foundation and the California Black Health Network will present the “African American Leadership Weekend and Wellness Day Weekend,” March 29-31, at the Doubletree Hotel in the Point West area.

The three-day session will include a series of workshops focused on the theme “Revitalizing the Urban Agenda.” The workshops will target issues facing underserved minority communities in an effort to develop positive solutions and remove barriers to growth.

The issues to be discussed will center around education, health, crime, home ownership, building wealth and the church’s role in the community.

“The African American Leadership Weekend is intended to create leaders for the building of better communities across the state,” said Aubry Stone, president and CEO of the California Black Chamber of Commerce.

“We realize that it begins with education, attitude and change. It is through education models and participation that we can assist new leaders in achieving their maximum potential for common community economic empowerment,” Stone added.

In addition to the workshops, a host of other activities are on the agenda. John Hope Bryant, a thought leader, founder, chairman and CEO of Operation HOPE, and author of the business bestseller “Love Leadership: The New Way to Lead in a Fear-Based World” will be one of the guest speakers.
