On the eve of the 10-year anniversary of his Clinton Foundation, and the celebration of his 65th birthday, I reflected back to a time when former President Bill Clinton both moved into Harlem, New York with his foundation offices (a first in America for any former U.S. president), and welcomed our financial literacy empowerment programs there as well, joining me in an urban classroom to co-teach our award winning Banking on Our Future financial literacy program. President Clinton was then as he is now — filled with authenticity, passion, purpose and service leadership. I featured former President Clinton in my now bestselling business book, LOVE LEADERSHIP: The New Way to Lead in a Fear-Based World (Jossey-Bass), because he is a walking, talking example of Love Leadership in his daily life.
Today, Banking on Our Future, New York City, launched with the help of former President Clinton and his Clinton Foundation, has achieved the following success benchmarks:
Youth Educated in NYC, PTD: 44,810
HOPE Corps Volunteers Trained for NYC, PTD: 1,605
Schools & Community Based Organization Partners, PTD: 165
And HOPE Partners inclusive of Capital One, E*Trade Financial, First Republic Bank, JPMC, Chubb Insurance and NYSE Euronext.
A special thank you to our founding Harlem, New York funding partners for Banking on Our Future, inclusive of Citi and Deutsche Bank, who made this original day with the former President possible.
Happy birthday Mr. President, friend, happy birthday! You are showing what one may with a vision can do.
