I am honored to lend my name and our support to the inagural Carolyn Young Mentor Walk, happening on September 10th, 2011, here in Atlanta, Georgia, celebrating and encouraging two of my favorite topics — my friend Mrs. Carolyn Young, and providing mentors to young people.
Most everyone knows of my personal hero and mentor, civil rights icon Ambassador Andrew Young, but most are unaware of the "wind beneath his wings," Mrs. Carolyn Young. Carolyn is a play mother, and sister, to me, and my dear friend. She is a career educator who has given her life to public service, and is more active today in community, than even when she was a celebrated teacher in Atlanta schools.
Everytime I speak with Carolyn, she is "giving" to someone, somewhere, for something. Always, it is something other than celebrating herself — and so it gives me great pride to encourage all to attend and support this Mentor Walk, in her name.
Mrs. Carolyn Young, is LOVE LEADERSHIP in action, in community and life.
Remember, "behind every great man, is an exhausted woman." Support the Carolyn Young Mentor Walk, please, today. If you live in Atlanta, be thre. If you can't be there, make a commitment. Here are the essentials:
