Funds will support financial literacy nonprofit’s “silver rights” mission to inspire financial wellness

ATLANTA, GA–September 1, 2011–Financial literacy nonprofit, Operation HOPE has received a $150,000 grant fromThe UPS Foundation, the charitable arm of UPS (NYSE:UPS).

The grant will be used to support the nonprofit’s youth financial literacy, dignity and foreclosure prevention empowerment initiatives, including: Banking on Our Future; Banking on Our Future, South Africa; Banking on Our Future, College Edition; and Mortgage HOPE Crisis Hotline (MHCH).

We are pleased to be recognized again by The UPS Foundation for the work that we do to build dignity in underserved communities," said John Hope Bryant, HOPE Founder, Chairman and CEO. “This grant will help us build self-reliance and ownership in communities that need it most.”

Banking on Our Future, HOPE's youth financial literacy initiative and nucleus for the South Africa and College Edition, is the winner of Oprah's Angel Network Use Your Life Award and the U.S. Treasury Department's John Sherman Award for Financial Literacy Excellence.

Since 1996, over 15,000 HOPE Corps volunteers have educated more than 600,000 youth globally, including 8,000 South African youth and women. The MHCH launched in 2007 in response to the mortgage meltdown, provides toll-free counseling and services to help homeowners address mortgage and financial challenges.
