Operation HOPE is honored to confirm Brian Tippens, director of the global procurement, sustainability & innovation at Hewlett-Packard Company, as the newest member of the Operation HOPE Northwest Board of Directors.  Brian is also a friend of mine, and a significant advocate around the advancement of our silver rights movement.

In his global role at Hewlett Packard, Brian manages and sets the strategic direction for a global program which works to ensure that minority-owned and other under-represented businesses have an opportunity to become HP suppliers or service providers.  He also oversees strategic supplier development and sustainability across HP’s multi-billion dollar global indirect and professional services supply chain. In the area of sustainability, Brian is responsible for driving implementation of Social & Environmental Responsibility and green procurement policies into HP procurement.

Brian serves as an adjunct professor of Legal Studies at Kaplan University, and is a former University of San Francisco faculty member.  He currently serves as a board member or advisor to the Australia-based biofuels provider Mission NewEnergy; the Shell Center for Sustainability at Rice University; the Canadian Aboriginal Minority Supplier Council (CAMSC); Texas Business Alliance (TBA); and the International Program Committee of the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC).

Brian holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of San Francisco, and a Juris Doctor from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law.
