Operation HOPE is proud and pleased to announce that Mr. Ari Matusiak, Executive Director of the White House Business Council, will give remarks at the forthcoming HOPE Financial Literacy Forum NYC, during the inaugural opening reception on the floor of the NYSE on July 20th, 2011.  Having leaders such as Mr. Matusiak present underscore and emphasizes the increasing power, relevance and impact of financial literacy for all, and more so, its link to the future of business in America.

Ari Matusiak is the Executive Director of the White House Business Council, a body comprised of over 225 senior Administration officials from the White House and nearly 20 Cabinet and sub-Cabinet agencies. The Council is one of the principal ways the Administration engages directly with business leaders around the country, getting feedback on what the Administration can do to help create jobs and making businesses aware of the programs and resources available to help them grow and succeed.

Prior to joining the Administration, Ari was the co-founder and founding chairman of Young Invincibles, a national organization dedicated to advancing the economic opportunity and influence of young adults.  “YI” played a key role in garnering the support of 18 to 34 year olds for comprehensive health care reform and was the lead advocate in the passage of the dependent coverage provision and comprehensive reforms to student health plans.

Ari has extensive nonprofit, philanthropic and community and economic development experience.  He was Vice President for Strategy and Community Impact at The Rhode Island Foundation, one of the oldest and largest community foundations in the country.  In that capacity, he was responsible for overseeing the foundation's strategic direction, special initiatives and engagement in public policy.  He was also Director of HousingWorks RI, a statewide coalition and campaign dedicated to increasing the supply of affordable housing in the state.  In 2006, Ari led a successful statewide ballot question campaign that secured $50 million in state bonds for homes working Rhode Islanders could afford.  Over four years, that bond has leveraged nearly $800 million in additional capital, creating 1,250 long-term affordable homes and over 6,000 good paying jobs in the state.

Ari is a Public Interest Law Scholar and cum laude graduate of Georgetown University Law Center, and graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Brown University.
