The main Borders Bookstore in downtown Washington, D.C., with “Going Out of Business” and “Everything Must Go” signs in every window and throughout the store, is unfortunately a perfect example of “a world on Reset.” In this example, the Internet has revolutionized (and changed forever) the traditional bookseller business model in the U.S. and around the world. All of this happened within a short 10-year time frame, and in some ways, Borders was simply a victim to seismic and unprecedented change in technology and the world economy.
