This week I gave a dear friend a piece of loving advise – deal with life as “it is.”

In other words, drop the B.S. in your life, as the only one you are really fooling, worth fooling, is yourself. The people who you are actually fool here, are unfortunately, respectfully, generally fools themselves.

Real people, authentic leaders (to quote my friend Bill George from his books Authentic Leadership and True North, and who also wrote the Forward for my book), will know and be able to read or discern “the real you.” In fact, they will know you are playing a game, with yourself or them, and they will as a result, trust you less. Certainly, God knows what is real with you, and not, so you are not fooling him. To Quote author Deepak Chopra, “we are not human beings having a spiritual experience, but spiritual beings, having a human experience.”

Life just gets so much better, richer, wiser, and more rewarding, when you drop all the drama and the games in your life, and simply deal with life “as an is.”

This realization was transformational for me. When I just relaxed, cut myself a break, surrendered to Him, yet held myself to high personal standards still (but without the uselessness of placing judgement on me or others), life just became so much better.

Today, make a commitment to live your life “as an is,” fully present in the moment.

Think about how few people you know, live present in the moment. People who say shake your hand, yet looking around the corner for the next person of so-called importance as they are doing it. Who are they fooling? Getting no place fast.

It’s an is, and that’s it.
