This year's Christmas was so incredibly special for me, as my word for 2010 was to be "present," and I was able to do precisely that without even thinking about it, hanging out earlier in the day with my father Johnie Will Smith, at the home of Rachael Doff, my personal chief of staff, her husband Charlie Doff, and their beautiful family. One of these photos is of me with my little angel Kayelea Doff.
Later on in the day a dear friend of mine and I joined my mentor, 5MK co-chair and friend, the iconic Quincy Jones for Christmas dinner with him, his sister Gloria Jones, members of his family and friends, including "my brother" and 5MK Digital Chair Quincy D. Jones, III, better known to all as QD3. Watch for major things coming from QD3 in 2011. All good.
One of my all time favorite memories, every time I hang with Q, is always being with Q's best friend, music icon Clarence Avant (he was Motown Records chairman amongst other roles over his long career). Here also is a great shot of Clarence and I, right before he said something wholly inappropriate (and loving, as only Clarence can be) to me. Big smile.
Can the holidays get any more special? Wishing each and every one of you an amazing 2011. It will be, on some level, what we make of it. Let's make it amazing. It's all in our hands.
