Dear friends in and of Atlanta,

I am writing to invite you to join the Atlanta Business League for the 77th Annual Atlanta Business League Dinner, November 10, 2010, 5:30pm, at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta Hotel. My keynote remarks will center around the realization that we, the community, have to create our own recovery plan. No one is coming to save us.

For the past 77 years, the Atlanta Business League, has been instrumental in creating many programs and initiatives that gear towards fostering the growth and development of successful business enterprises owned, operated and managed by African-Americans in metropolitan Atlanta. Founded by Dr. Booker T. Washington, they have stood by their core mission of enriching the lives of many communities through the development and the fostering of relationships that in turn have generated revenue for new business in the Atlanta area.

What people may not realize is that Dr. King, Sr. was as much about Silver Rights, as he was about Civil Rights. It is in his honor that Operation HOPE has partnered with Ebenezer Baptist Church to invest and build an Operation HOPE Financial Literacy Empowerment Center within the Martin Luther King, Sr. Resource Center.  Our lead partners in the HOPE Center at Ebenezer include Atlanta powerhouses such as SunTrust and Wells Fargo/Wachovia, and include major players such as State Farm Insurance, LPL Financial, MasterCard and Financial Services Roundtable.

Operation HOPE’s (HOPE) Silver Rights Movement, which is aimed at continuing to build upon the work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and Atlanta Business League’s promotion of increased access to business opportunities and capital, are both financial empowerment investors in communities. Ambassador Andrew Young, the right arm to the late Dr. King, and HOPE’s global spokesman, recently told me that he, Dr. King, Jr. and others succeeded in integrating the lunch counter, the public building and even the school house, but never the dollar. This is the mission of the Silver Rights Movement.

Please join me in support of the ABL. If you would like to attend, please RSVP to Shari Abbott-Aranda via e-mail, shari.abbott-aranda@operationhope.org, or 404-941-2919.

Let us continue to empower, encourage and promote financial empowerment and the importance of developing successful African American businesses and entrepreneurship in our communities.

With HOPE,

John Hope Bryant
