HOPE Founder John Hope Bryant Travels to Uganda to Spread the Message of Financial Literacy Empowerment and LOVE LEADERSHIP; Encourages Ugandan Leaders to Undertake Financial Literacy as New Civil Right Issue for the Country, and First Silver Right Empowerment Tool for Its People

Events Planned in Conjunction with Financial Literacy Week Include Meeting with Ugandan Government Officials and U.S. Ambassador

KAMPALA, Uganda–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Operation HOPE Founder, Chairman and CEO John Hope Bryant traveled to Africa this week to partake in Uganda’s fifth annual Financial Literacy Week.

“LOVE LEADERSHIP: The New Way to Lead in a Fear-Based World”

“Financial literacy and empowerment at its core is understanding that it’s not only about making more money, it’s discovering how to make better decisions with the money you make,” said business best-selling author John Hope Bryant. Bryant continued, "In a global economic age, to live in a system of free enterprise and to not understand the rules of free enterprise, to not understand the 'language of money,' is the very definition of slavery. What Africa needs ultimately for sustainable growth is the creation of more tax payers. Economic freedom is key to set people free."

Along with being the event’s featured guest speaker, Bryant met with Ugandan officials from the Central Bank Committee on Financial Literacy and Consumer Protection, Ministry of Finance and National Planning. Talks revolved around Uganda’s efforts to design national policies around financial literacy and consumer protection, and a briefing on recent moves by the Obama Administration to open up capitalism to all. Ugandan officials wanted to tap into Bryant’s experience as an advisor to four U.S. presidents and his experience as the former vice chair of the first U.S. President’s Advisory Council on Financial Literacy.

Bryant was also given the opportunity to present leadership principles from his book "LOVE LEADERSHIP: The New Way to Lead in a Fear-Based World" to top military leaders from the nation’s national armed forces, the Uganda People’s Defense Force.

Later in the trip, Bryant was able to meet with U.S. Ambassador Jerry P. Lanier and his staff along with officials from USAID.
