Appointment further demonstrates the financial community’s commitment to make the
Silver Rights Movement and financial empowerment for the underserved a national priority

LOS ANGELES – July 8, 2010 – John Hope Bryant, founder, chairman and chief executive officer of financial literacy empowerment nonprofit Operation HOPE (HOPE) announced today that Duncan Niederauer, chief executive officer of NYSE Euronext, has been appointed to the organization’s national board and will assist in the advancement of HOPE’s mission to provide financial literacy empowerment, known as “silver rights,” to underserved individuals across the country and globally.

“As we have forged a relationship with the Financial Services Roundtable, an organization representing 100 of the largest integrated financial services companies in America, we are pleased to partner with the NYSE Euronext family as Duncan Niederauer joins our national board,” said business bestselling author and HOPE founder John Hope Bryant. “I admire Duncan as a person and a leader. As CEO of NYSE Euronext, which lists more than 4,500 companies with a combined market cap of more than $15 trillion, Duncan understands the importance of financial literacy for the well being of individuals and the overall health of the global economy. He is a gifted business leader, and a person who believes in doing well by doing good.”

During financial literacy month this April, Niederauer joined Chairman Bryant for a special NYSE Euronext salute to financial literacy in America, culminating in Operation HOPE ringing the NYSE Closing BellTM. Niederauer also played a role with HOPE as a distinguished speaker for the HOPE Atlanta Financial Forum, which coincided with the shovel ceremony for the planned HOPE Financial Literacy Empowerment Center at Ebenezer Church.

“Given Duncan’s commitment to financial literacy empowerment and his standing in global financial services, he will be a great asset to our board,” said Bill Walbrecher, Operation HOPE president and chief operating officer. “Duncan has demonstrated outstanding leadership in financial education already with the launch of the website NYSE Money Sense, and believes it is time to take action to empower individuals to give them financial stability in their lives. We are honored to have him join our board and look forward to his guidance and insights for continued success.”

“I believe in the work of Operation HOPE and in the need to help people of all ages and walks of life better understand and participate in the financial system,” Niederauer said.  “NYSE Euronext shares Operation HOPE’s commitment to financial education and it is my goal to extend our association and mission to others in our community of listed companies and the financial system so that all Americans have the opportunity to become more financially capable and knowledgeable. Doing so is beneficial for individuals and local communities, our economy and our nation.”

In April 2010, John Hope Bryant was named to the newly established NYSE Euronext Financial Literacy Advisory Committee. The committee, which is composed of some of the most respected names in financial literacy and education, assists in the development of a new online resource for consumers NYSE Money Sense (www.nysemoneysense.com) program.

Niederauer will serve on the HOPE National Board along with board chairman John Hope Bryant, board vice-chairs Tim Chrisman, chief executive officer of Chrisman & Company and chairman of the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco; Lynn Pike, president of Capital One Bank; and Rick Hartnack, vice chairman of U.S. Bancorp. The HOPE National Board is comprised of some of the nation's most powerful executives, decision-makers, bankers and economists. These individuals play an essential role in providing insight and guidance to the organization's direction.
