On February 18, 2010, the World Economic Forum and its Forum of Young Global Leaders present an event to highlight the transformational power of arts in society and the critical role of cultural institutions and arts education, particularly during times of economic difficulty.

 

Performances at Carnegie Hall by world-renowned artists – Joshua Bell (violin), Julian Rachlin (violin), Valery Gergiev (Conductor) and Carlos Miguel Prieto (Conductor) all of whom are members of the Forum of Young Global Leaders, give voice to the potential impact the arts have to transform the world.

 

Speakers during the concert will include:

Professor Klaus Schwab, Executive Chairman and Founder, World Economic Forum;

John Hope Bryant, Vice Chairman, U.S. President’s Advisory Council on Financial Literacy, Founder, Operation HOPE; and

Jose Antonio Abreu, Founder, Fundación del Estado para el Sistema Nacional de las Orquestas Juveniles

 

In addition, during the day, the World Economic Forum is hosting a panel discussion on the role and responsibilities of cultural leaders and institutions in the collaborative process

of developing solutions to a number of challenges affecting the world in the areas of education, poverty, crime, multicultural understanding and international diplomacy.
