Spelman college The #1 reason why black and brown young people drop out of college is not academics, it's money.

At 11am this morning, I am honored to speak at the 2010 Financial Literacy Convocation at Spelman College for my friends Dr. Beverly Tatum and Dr. Jane Smith, and of course our HOPE Partner in Banking on Our Future, College Edition, Spelman College.

Spelman was the first Operation HOPE pilot focused on our powerful new HBCU initiative to reach, teach, touch and empower every freshman at HBCUs across the nation with the power of financial literacy.  Soon, working in concert with the White House Initiative on HBCU's, we will be expanding our teaching to include a focus on dignity, philanthropy and giving back.

Later in the day we will release our initial results around Banking on Our Future, College Edition, at Spelman College.  For more information contact Mary Hagerty at Operation HOPE.
